Has anyone noticed that time keeps ticking whether we want
it to or not? I once heard a saying that our health is our wealth - and I
TOTALLY agree with it! I think our number 2 on the wealth list would be TIME.
Too often we take our time for granted but we would be in denial if we think we
have limitless time in this world.
Why is time so precious?
- Because time can’t be bought - you can have all the money in the world but you can’t buy more time. Everyone is given the same 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week. It is true that money can give you more freedom in how you use your time, but that does not mean you suddenly have 27 hours in a day.
- Because we can’t pause or stop time and it is irreplaceable - once time is gone, it is gone. You can’t turn back time to yesterday or even 3 seconds ago unfortunately. All we have is our present and the future.
- Because it is a limited source – we all hope to live a long life and we thought with money we can extend our life. I am a big believer that once our time is up, it is up and there is nothing we can do about it. There are so many unexpected things, freak accidents or tragedies to support my belief.
Personally, I think I can be wiser with my time.
There are times when I relook at my life and think ‘if only I did that back
then’ or ‘if only I used that time for…’ but it is all too late. However, since
I am now being reminded on how precious time is, I have promised myself that I
will be more careful about using mine. I want to live a meaningful life with
purpose, especially since I think I owe it to my family and more importantly
myself to make the most of it.
“Shorter as life is, we make it still shorter by the careless waste of time.”
Victor Hugo
